For all DIYers embarking on a tiling project, the tile calculator is the solution. Planning is essential whether purchasing bricks, mulch, or tiles, as anyone who has worked on a construction job before is aware. Our goal is to make the process of buying tiles for your home simple and enjoyable. If you need to tile walls, floors, or elevations, use our square-foot tile calculator to get the precise quantity and cost.

What is Tile Calculator?

You can use the tile calculator to get the precise amount of tiles you need to install in your space. This calculator determines how many tile boxes are necessary to cover the entire square foot space. You can calculate the square footage for the tile by following the steps mentioned ahead in this article.

Steps to calculate square feet for tile:

Step 1: Take the measurements of the space

Measure the area where the tiles will be laid to determine how many tiles you’ll need. If you’re installing tiles on a wall, make sure to take measurements of the space’s width, length, and height. We advise you to take measurements in centimeters as it will ease the calculation.

Step 2: Find the area of the space

The next step is to determine the square footage once you have the space’s dimensions. This is simply the result of multiplying the space’s breadth by its length. For example, if the length of the space is 12 feet and the width is 10 feet, then the area will be the product of 12 and 10, i.e., 120 square feet.

Step 3: Measure and confirm the tile size.

The size of the tiles you’ll be utilizing must then be determined. The final computation will be impacted by the size of the tiles because bigger tiles will cover more ground than smaller tiles. Each tile should have its width and length measured, and the measurements should be noted.

Step 4: Find the exact number of tiles needed for your space.

You can determine how many tiles you’ll need after you know the square footage of the area and the size of the tiles. Simply divide the total square footage of the room by the tile’s surface area to get this number. For example, if you have taken 12 x 12 tiles for covering the space, then the calculation will be (12 x 12 feet) divided by (12 x 12) square units of tile.

Step 5: Consider cuts and waste.

It’s critical to keep in mind that some waste and cuts will occur during the installation of tiles. You’ll need to increase the final calculation buffer to take this into account. Generally speaking, to account for waste and cuts, you should add 10% to the final calculation.

Step 6 (Additional): Find the Tiling Cost.

We presume you’ll just use one kind of tile for covering your space. So to calculate the final cost of flooring, multiply the total number of tiles by the price of a single tile. For example, if 100 tiles are needed and the price of a single is INR 35, then the price of flooring, will be (100 x 35), INR 3500.

There are 4 tiles in a box of 2×2 size.

What is the formula for calculating tiles?

The tile calculator or the following formula can be used to determine the tile’s area.

Number of Tiles = Size of the room/ Size of the tiles. This means, by the size of one tile, you are dividing the room, floor, and wall areas. Due to the lack of fractional tiles, you must utilize round numbers when performing the calculations. To calculate the size of the room or tile, use the formula: Area = Length x Breadth.

How long is 1 tile?

A typical tile can length can range from 15 to 20 cm. Though, it can go up to 60 to 80 cm as well. 20cm x 20cm, 20cm x 10cm, and 15cm x 15cm are the most popular tile sizes available on the market. The thickness of these tiles is 15 and 20 mm. However, the tile size may change based on your preferences. It’s interesting to note that large tiles are now preferred over small ones.
